PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The initial idea is to make artificial topography on the flat and undistinguished hard surfaces of the Embassy Park. Situated between buildings, new framework for the park need to connect two exist buildings as well as provide dynamic and active space for visitors. Also, in order to give less impact on the site, the proposal takes the strategy to maintain existing trees and make frames for the artificial topography. Wood structural frames cover all over the site reacting to the site condition and make a small hills, shelter, and exhibition spaces for public art. The frames provides transparent and dynamic new surface. Basically spaces made by the framework are flexible and used for various purposes. Considering community’s need, lower hill area can work as playground and seating area, and interior space can be used for community gathering, exhibition. People can also work through the ramp facing the historic red brick mill complex across the Charles River and experience panoramic perspective with the local landscape.
