PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Located in-between the two landmarks Tower Bridge and City hall of London, “Green Chimney” takes architectural language from them. While connecting the vertical farm with Tower bridge, bridging and tensile structure are brought into the site. Deriving from the City Hall, floors of the vertical farm are spiral which enables continuous farming throughout the building. In addition, since London has serious air pollution problem, the vertical farm should function as a medium reducing CO2 density as well as producing crops in the urban area. So its envelop is mainly focused on creating algae bio-skin system in order to generate bio-fuel energy and filter polluted air. All of the resources produced by the mechanical envelop are transferred to the core farming system which controls Green Chimney, and they are distributed for farming process via the core system.
