고래이야기 I : Janah and The whale

“And the Lord provided a great fish for Jonah, and it swallowed him, and Jonah sat in the belly of the fish for three days and nights … Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the belly of the fish,…. Jonah began to pray.” , Jonah 1:17 – 2:10

고래이야기 II: Pinnochio and The whale

“The puppet swam as fast as he could, but he couldn’t escape the whale. The whale ate Pinnochio and he went right into its stomach. But who else was there?

Pinocchio had found his father, Geppetto, and when night fell and the whale was sleeping with its mouth hanging open, the two of them escaped.”

못 안에서 활기차게 뛰노는 고기 撥剌池中魚 / 발랄하게 못 속을 다니면서 撥剌池中行 / 연잎 사이에서 놀기도 하고 游戲蓮葉間 / 오물대고 쪼아먹고 제멋대로였는데 呷唼常適情 / 무단히 멀리 놀고 싶은 생각으로 矯然思遠游 / 흐름 따라 큰 바다로 들어갔다네 隨流入滄瀛 / 양양한 바다 갈 곳을 잃고 望洋迷所向 / 거센 물결에 넋이 도망갔으며 蕩潏魂屢驚 / 가까스로 교룡 악어를 피했더니 崎嶇避蛟鰐 / 필경에는 큰 고래를 만나 至竟値長鯨 / 고래가 들이켜면 빨려들어가 죽었다가 倏鯨吸而死 / 고래가 뿜어내면 다시 살아났다네 忽鯨歕而生 / 자나깨나 옛 못이 그리워서 耿耿思故池 / 시름시름 걱정만 하던 차에 圉圉憂心縈 / 그 고기를 불쌍히 여긴 용왕이 神龍哀此魚 / 세찬 비를 소리나게 내려주었다네 雷雨會有聲
